Brazilian supermodel Gisele has featured in an American Express print campaign for its charity credit card Red, launched as part of U2 frontman Bono’s Product Red campaign : the ad stars Gisele alongside a traditionally dressed Maasai warrior, Keseme Ole Parsapaet, and has the strapline « My card. My life », a spin on the current « My life. My card » tagline.

Product Red is like a constellation of some of the world’s most iconic global brands (American Express, Gap, Nike, Motorola, Armani) who have created special Red products. A proportion of the profits goes to the Global Fund1 to raise funds for the fight against HIV and Aids in Africa. Launched in the UK last spring 2006 and supported by an independent newspaper, and a gaggle of celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Claudia Schiffer and the Scissor Sisters, it has been promoted in North America last summer.

This campaign captures the true energy and spirit behind Red while communicating the unique role the card can play in enabling consumers to make a real difference.

Some people said the idea of a poor African’s life is being borrowed for by a rich white person is not a revolutionary concept. Regarding Keseme Ole Parsapaet, he said: « Aids is affecting my community. I think Red is great. It is a way of helping the world come together to help fight Aids. »

Yet another celebrity has jumped on the Saviour of Africa bandwagon.

Gisele is, since january, the new face of Cacharel. The Brazilian supermodel has signed a multi million pound deal with the French company. She will appear in advertising campaigns from Europe to the Middle East to promote their new fragrance. Gisele is one of the most high profile models in the industry. Bunchen’s popularity in China, Japan, Europe and the Middle East after the Product Red campaign is believed to be one of the reasons why she was chosen to represent Cacharel. The stunning 24 year old has starred in campaigns for some of fashion’s biggest names including Louis Vuttion, Christian Dior, Victoria Secrets, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana.

You may have big, plump, sexy lips that are natural like Scarlett Johansson and in that case you can sublimate them with make-up : lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, or even if you don’t, here are a few tips to make your lips appear healthier, softer, smoother and more radiant.

Now available on sale on Internet, there is in the current fashion, a new generation of cosmetic products for the lips which make ultrasexy lips.

Lips are fragile because of a lack of greasy substance and sweat, they do not have means of defense against the cold, they are vulnerable against the adverse effects of the sun and usually dry as they are close to the mouth which speeds the drying process because of the moisture it releases. Lips must be hydrated morning and evening to protect and embellish them. To improve the condition of your damaged lips, use a brush with flexible tooth to detach dead skin cells and then apply a nourishing balm to moisturize them.

A few tips and tricks to get a fashionable and glamorous pout

For a natural effect, use a transparent lip liner or a clear one if you prefer, this will give a half glossy effect to draw the lips and thus make the lipstick and the lip gloss hold all day.
To make thin lips look fuller, line the outside of your lip line with a darker pencil then apply a slightly clearer lipstick filling in the entire lip area. To draw perfectly your mouth, you should always use a lip liner to outline the contour of your mouth, then always apply lipstick with a brush.(never apply a lipstick directly on your lips but always use a brush to make it penetrate and last longer)

For a glamorous effect, the first option is to use a Gloss lip in the middle of the lower lip over your lipstick, or the second option is to use a lip liner with a hue similar to your natural lip color and ditch the gloss for a super shiny and pulpy effect. Don’t forget to remove the surplus of lipstick : by gently pressing one’s lips on a tissue, to prevent your lipstick from sticking on the teeth.

To choose a good color, use a lip liner that matches your lipstick; use either a shiny or a matte lipstick that matches your make – up and clothes; you’d better choose a natural color lipstick during the day and an intense and darker hue for parties.

How to make your lipstick hold all day long?

You should put two layers of powder on your lips : one to give your lipstick something to grab onto so it lasts longer, then apply your lipstick and powder it a second time to prevent it from wearing off.

Thanks to all these essential tips of beauty, you will attract all the glances on your silky lips and your smile will be even more charming.

Iran has a long history of cosmetics and toiletries that dates back to Persian times. While women increasingly play a critical role in Iranian politics, their faces still remain hidden behind a veil. A rule requiring all women to appear in public in Islamic dress was written into the country’s penal code, but the Koranic verse that defines it is subject to interpretatation. The Islamic Republic didn’t invent the veil.

Today, its traditional yet popular materials, including sormeh (a black powder used as eyeliner) and golab (rose water) co-exist with foreign offers and beauty brands such as L’Oréal Paris.

Doctor knows best

With a population of more than 68 million, there is huge potential for beauty companies to tap into the market. However, with a 60% market share, pharmacies provide the principal channel for beauty sales selling an array of premium, selective and mass brands. The remaining 40% comes from retailers such as perfumeries and beauty institutes.

One particularity of the market is the link between beauty and medicine, demonstrated by the industry’s role in the pharmacy channel. Doctors and dermatologists are major purchasing advisors in Iran. Even to choose a makeup remover, women ask for their doctor’s advice.

If local brands will not be the main players in the market, local customs will certainly dictate the avenues foreign brands should explore.

Islamic values and cosmetic exhibition

The first cosmetics and personal hygiene fair was closed by the Iranian judiciary on February 6, 2005 in Mashhad city, which is a holy city devoted to Islamic values. During the exhibition, a large number of Iranian women visited the stands offering colour cosmetics and other feminine toiletries. Many women were openly wearing bright make-up, which is not in line with the Islamic code of conduct that forbids colourful make-up in public.

The Iranian judiciary officially asked the director of the Mashhad exhibition that only women run the cosmetic stands in order to respect the Islamic code, but it was not done. As a result, the Mashhad cosmetics exhibition was shut down but later re-opened.

Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, adolescent females have been required to wear a veil. But in spite of these restrictions, not all women cover their hair totally anymore and often wear trasnparent scarves so that their hairstyle can be visible. These customs open the door to the haircare segment, as well as to the eye makeup category, which is already a traditional bestseller in the market as eye contact is paramount in Iran, according to Hashemithe.
